Some information on Hyderabad, India from http://uplifthumanityindia.org/

Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh and also considered the largest city in southern India. Located near Musi River, this city is amiably known as Pearl City, as it was once recognized as the trading hub for diamonds.

Although much of these diamond centers no longer remain, the city of Hyderabad emulates the vision of a diamond, as it is recognized as the city of bright lights and great resorts and monuments. In fact, Hyderabad is home to the Charminar, a stunning mosque that to many residents is viewed as significant as the Taj Mahal in Agra. Other attractions include the Golconda Fort, Taramati Baradari, and the Salar Jung Museam, all of which hold a distinct historical significance to the natives.

In 2007, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was created in order to regulate the city’s local government leaders. The GHMC assists local governments with many of its daily activities, however, most importantly, it funds pre-school education and public schools.

The problem is that the GHMC was founded in 2007, which means generations of children have lacked the resources to go to school and learn the practicalities of life.
